ELFA International was founded by Elias Fadlo Assile (ELFA) in 1961 as a buying agent for clients in the Dominican Republic. Joined by his eldest son, Edward, in 1975, ELFA has evolved over the years from buying domestically in the US to sourcing product from Pakistan and then eventually China. The company has produced product for clients that range from family-owned businesses in the Dominican Republic to national stores such as TJ Maxx, Costco and Bed, Bath & Beyond in the US.

Edward Assile has been at the helm of ELFA for over 40 years. He has a remarkable ability to see change quickly which has resulted in the longevity of the company. The value and service Ed brings to his customers is his number one priority. He will not sell something that does not meet the highest standards of quality and value. Trained as a CPA (Fordham ’70), Ed has been married for over 40 years to his wife Arlene. When Ed is not on the phone, or on the road en route to a client, you can find him on the golf course or spending time with his 4 grandchildren.
Since joining the company in 2014, Brian Gorlo has been instrumental in transforming ELFA into a major player in the domestic textile market because of his deep industry experience. With nearly 25 years of home furnishings retail and textile sales experience, Brian has held sales and management positions at Tietex International, Burlington Industries and Jennifer Convertibles. Today he leads ELFA’s sales team and manages its design team to meet each customer’s needs. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, Brian lives in Stratford, Ct. with his family. When Brian isn’t with clients you can find him snowmobiling, at target practice or on the golf course.

Cindy graduated from North Carolina State University’s College of Textiles with a degree in Fashion and Textile Design with a concentration in Textile Design and Circular Knitting. After beginning in 2015 as a designer working with a wide array of knitting technologies, she made the decision to focus on mattress ticking. She is now working as lead designer for ELFA International, collaborating with a close-knit team to bring a fresh perspective to the mattress industry through circular knits, wovens, and printed designs. When not working on mattress ticking or other fabric designs, Cindy likes to spend time doing yoga, either at home or in group practices like at the US National White Water Center. Nassim Dina landed his first job out of college at ELFA as a sales assistant to the president and quickly took over managing the Caribbean market. He discovered early on that the challenge of sourcing and introducing new products to his clients is what makes his career less of a job and more of a passion. Born in the Dominican Republic and raised in France, Nassim currently runs ELFA’s Caribbean office out of Santo Domingo. Competitive by nature you can find him playing in whatever sport is available and enjoying spending time with his large extended family, especially his wife and young son.
